Officials said normal life has been affected in various parts of the country for the past few days due to scorching heat.
Kathmandu: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged people not to venture out of the Terai region for the next few days.
Educational institutions have also been closed in the Terai region due to unbearable heat.
According to the Department, the highest temperature ever recorded in four places of Nepal has been recorded on Thursday.
Dumkauli of Nawalparasi, Dharan Bazar of Sunsari, Kanyam Tea Garden of Ilam and Okhaldhunga recorded the highest temperature so far.
Dumkauli recorded 43.8 degrees Celsius, Dharan 39.3 degrees Celsius, Okhaldhunga 31 degrees Celsius and Kanyam Tea Gardens 30 degrees Celsius.
When does the heat decrease?
Indira Kandel, senior meteorologist and head of the Meteorological Analysis Section of the Department, said that three conditions seem to be associated with the current heat.
"Firstly, due to nepal's geographical location, the sun's rays come more during this time, due to which the surface of the land becomes very hot and also heats the air," she told BBC News Nepali.
"Secondly, rainfall activity has decreased, which is causing more heat and the third reason is the impact of climate change. ”
According to Meteorologist Rogen Lamichhane at the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is no possibility of reducing the heat until the onset of monsoon.
"After the onset of monsoon, the temperature will finally start to drop," he told to onlinenewzzzone.
However, senior meteorologist Kandel said that monsoon will not be active in Nepal for another five to seven days.
"So the current heat will remain the same or continue to increase," she added.
According to meteorologists, nepal receives less monsoon rainfall during The El Niño season. Even then the heat increases.
"Nepal is expected to receive less rainfall this monsoon. The temperature is also expected to be higher than the average," lamichhane said.
also expected to be higher than the average," lamichhane said.
What is the high temperature in Nepal?
Nepal recorded the highest temperature of 46.4 degrees Celsius since the data was recorded.
According to the Department, on June 5, 1995, Dhangadhi recorded a temperature of 46.4 degrees Celsius.
Nepalgunj recorded 45.2 degrees Celsius on May 3, 1995 and 45 degrees Celsius on June 16, 1995.
45 degrees Celsius in Dipalaya on May 28, 2012 and on June 14, 2012
In Surkhet, the temperature reached 42 degrees Celsius.
What is the international scenario?
A natural weather system called El Niño has started in the Pacific Ocean, which appears to heat up the warming earth, scientists say.
U.S. scientists have confirmed that El Niño has begun, and experts say 2024 is expected to be the warmest year.
Amid forecasts that El Niño will affect global weather, drought in Australia, more water in South America and weakening monsoon in India could occur.
El Niño is expected to affect many parts of Asia with extreme heat and drought. When the monsoon is affected, it can also affect Nepal.
What are El Niño and La Ninya?
El Niño and La Ninya are two conditions of the El Niño Southern Assembly (ENSO).
El Niño is a climate system that depends on the temperature of the eastern Pacific Ocean.
