PM: The government will manage resources to eliminate TB. Dahal







Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal announced today that the government would handle the resources needed to eradicate tuberculosis from the country. 



In a message of best wishes on World Tuberculosis Day, he said the government would devote resources to make the national drive to eliminate tuberculosis a success."In the previous fiscal year, after developing the necessary policies, strategies, and plans, the tuberculosis campaign was launched at 25 local levels under the leadership of the local government



." It plans to expand the campaign to all 753 local levels within four years," he said, adding that the administration is dedicated to carrying out all obligations made to end the disease.


"The campaign against tuberculosis will be accelerated through multisectoral collaboration and mobilization of required resources after managing a high-level mechanism at the federal, provincial, and local levels," stated the greeting message.



He has also requested assistance from all national and international non-governmental organizations, funders, and other stakeholders in Nepal's campaign to eradicate the contagious disease. Similarly, Dev Kumari Guragain, Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Population, emphasized the importance of developing and implementing policies and plans to eradicate the disease in accordance with the World Health Organization's Multisectoral Accountability Framework.



She stated that the Ministry has been working to address a variety of issues and problems in recognizing and treating the disease by developing short, mid, and long-term plans and strategies.Today, the Day is being honored all across the world, including Nepal. 


The Day's tagline is "Yes, We Can End Tuberculosis (We Can End TB)." According to the WHO, over 15 people die from the disease in Nepal every day, and over 180 individuals become ill with it. According to the National Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey 2018-19, around 117,000 persons in Nepal have TB, according to the National Tuberculosis Programme, the Government of Nepal, with support from the WHO and other partners.
